Where to begin? I honestly do have so much to share and so much on my mind lately that I simply don’t know where to begin….

Running

AZ Rock n Roll LogoI guess I can start with my running adventures. Not too many to speak about yet, but our training plan for the Arizona Rock n Roll Half Marathon did start this week! So far so good, though the challenge is keeping everyone accountable. WO isn’t as big of a deal, but since Lil WO decided that he wasn’t going to run cross country this year at school… getting his runs in are a little tougher. Let’s face it, I am in my 40’s and can barely drag myself out of bed for my training runs, try getting a 13 year old boy up! But we are facing those challenges, and this weekend will his longest run yet. I’m sure he’ll handle it, but I am sure there will be a battle to get out the door.

My eyes are also still on the WDW Marathon in 2018 (Happy Birthday to me!) so there is no letting up for me. I’m going to be honest, training for a full 26.2 miles scares me to death. But, they always say do one the things that scare you (or something like that) so I am going to keep going. Other thoughts surrounding participating on a Ragnar Team or completing a Triathlon have also been swirling around in my head as well. I guess we’ll see what transpires. You can always follow my adventures by following me on RunKeeper!

Gym Rat

Gym Rat working outThe next change – we finally bit the bullet and joined a gym. I was worried I wouldn’t get our money’s worth from it, so for the 1st two weeks I made an effort to go every day. Now that it has become a habit – I have a pretty fairly structured workout routine, and have really become a gym rat. I pack my gym bag every morning and throw it in the car, even though the gym is almost walking distance. I know that if I go home first, I won’t go back. Once I get some free evenings, I am dying to try out some of their classes. There is also a pool (did I mention Triathlons?) so swim training could really happen. Of course, while I will hit the weights with little hesitation – the pool scares me. I really don’t want people to see me gasping for breath after a single 25 yard lap (if I can even make it that far!)

Life

Ok, this is probably the biggest thing to share. After 5 1/2 years, I am actually leaving my current job! For those that follow me on Facebook, you may have an idea of how stressed I have been over the last 6-9 months. It had really affected me and the family. Life had become pretty unbearable, and to numb the stress it wasn’t uncommon for me to have a bottle of wine – a night. I packed on nearly 20 pounds, which is a lot for me. All of this is part of what led to joining the gym. After a long search, I was hired on with what seems to be a great company, handling their social media, as well as putting to together social media marketing plans for their various properties. It won’t be too much different than what I am doing now, I’ll just be in an in-house marketing department! My last day with my current company is October 7th… though there are definitely efforts to push me out earlier. With the amount of stress I have been under – that wouldn’t be a bad thing – as long I am paid through the day everyone agreed would be my last day.

See, quite a few things to share with you all! With the added stress, I haven’t had much time – or energy to be honest – to keep everything up to date. Let’s be honest, even with meds I was damned lucky to just be able to keep my head above water!
