Working on getting my mojo back means relying on a few of my favorite fitness apps. These are really my go-to’s, and cover my for daily use, as well as any type of workout on the calendar no matter if it is a run, bike, weight lifting, or a body weight workout. All of these apps are free, so you may have to deal with ads every now and then, but almost all of them also offer a premium version as well. They are also ALL on iTunes. I think they are also all available for Android, but I’m an Apple girl – so there is that.
- Sworkit – My favorite for at home (or on the road) body weight workouts. Pick from strength, cardio, yoga, or flexibility focuses, and hit START. You’ll get verbal and video cues to work through! Super easy to use, and if you want to dig deeper – you can also customize workouts as well! The exercises you get vary, so you don’t get stuck in a rut!
- Lose-It – Lose it is my go-to diet tracker. It makes it easy to track my calories and macros for the day and keeps a running log of weekly calories. You can set different goals as well, such as weight loss, weight gain, or maintenance, Lose it will calculate the calories you need daily to hit that goal. You can also add in custom recipes to make logging homemade meals so much easier!
- Runkeeper – I have bounced between so many different activity/running apps it isn’t even funny. Right now I have landed on RunKeeper. It lets me track runs, walks, bike rides, swims and more. Just like the most all running apps, it lets you select a playlist to listen to, logs your splits, elevation, and offers customizable verbal cues. My current favorite voice is “Your Conscience”. Of course, why I am there is totally the community… I have lots of friends that also use it, so we are able to support each other through our training. So, if you are using RunKeeper (or decide to) be sure to follow me.
- Workout – My go-to app for the gym. Unfortunately, I can’t afford a personal trainer, and for the longest time, those machines and free weights scared me to death. Enter Workout. It is super easy to open this up, chose the body part I am focusing on, and see several different exercises to do to work on that muscle group. What is great is that it will show you several options, including different free weight, cable, and machine based exercises. You can view static pictures, gifs, or video so you know exactly what you are supposed to do (and not look like That Person at the gym)
Now, it’s time for me to log this Iced Tea I am drinking, and get moving! Let me know if you try any of these and what you think! OR if you think you have a better app, share those with me too! I am always looking for new apps to help motivate and education me!
