Sometimes being the responsible grown-up really does suck. I have a runDisney problem and I know it. But when WO was thinking that maybe we would register to run the Avenger’s Half Marathon again this year. Registration was this morning, and knowing runDisney race registration – I knew we had to be ready to go at 9am!
We spent the last week going back and forth about the race. As I said in my recap, I was not a huge fan of the Avenger’s Half course, but since we ran in the Inaugural race, we have Legacy status. Learning from the experience of the last one, I think I would have a better experience (as long as we didn’t get those ridiculous winds we had) As of this morning, we were going to do it. WO was at home ready to register himself and I was ready to handle my registration. Starting at about 10 minutes before the race opened – WO started to feel the tug of responsibility. We literally decided 2 minutes before registration opened – we were out. Could we afford the race? Yes, it would have stretched the budget a bit here and there while we saved up the money for Disneyland tickets and the hotel for the weekend. One of our personal goals is to pay off our credit cards, and indulging my runDisney addiction isn’t helping that plan.
Am I disappointed? Of course, a little. But Wine and Dine is the weekend before. I would be running 2 half marathons a week apart. That would be a challenge in itself. Let’s face it; I doubt there would be too much running at Avenger’s. Maybe this opens up the possibility of doing the Star Wars race in January. It does make me think of setting a goal of running each race in the next year or two!
