Wow – I decided to relax a little bit on Sunday and totally forgot to get my training log up! What was I thinking? I started to catch up on Monday, but Lil’ WO had the district track meet (he placed 4th in the 6th grade 100m dash!) and work was crazy…. so here I am, updating the Training Log on Tuesday.
Last week’s cross training and weight training didn’t go as planned. And Thursday’s run I just skipped. To be honest, I don’t even remember why anymore. Which just goes to show you it could not have been a very good excuse. The good news is that my 3 miles on Saturday was nice and on Sunday I felt strong during my long run – which ended up at 9 1/2 miles! I ran the “boring” neighborhood route instead of hitting the trail, and I think the fact there are no hills helped my IT band from flaring too much.
We are coming down to the wire, and honestly I am getting quite nervous about hitting my goals at the race. So, no excuses. I need to do my work! Even with the track meet yesterday, I got a condensed leg workout done, focusing on my glutes, which should help with the IT band issues. Tuesday is speedwork, as usual. My plan is a 5 mile run with Fartleks. I have never done a fartlek workout, so we’ll see how that goes. Wednesday will be cross training (focusing on those glutes again). Thursday will be a 6 mile easy run and on to one of my last long run weekends. 3 miles Saturday and 12 miles Sunday! I am getting excited that we are getting so close!
