On the heels of the changes to the Wine & Dine Half Marathon, there is news about the Super Hero Half Marathon weekend in California as well!
New Themes
Since it has been 75 years since the first appearance of Captian America, the Captain America 5K will be inspired by the vintage, original artwork. I love vintage, so this really piques my interest, even though I have am not a big fan of the Disney 5K races (or medals)
The 10K will be celebrating a new Super Hero to join the festivities; Doctor Strange. The master of mystic arts is all set to host the 10K, and honestly, I can’t wait to see what the medal for this one looks like! Of course, the movie opens the week before the event – so I am sure the AMC in Downtown Disney will be packed.
The Half Marathon is remaining the Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon, so you can probably expect to see Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Thor. But the Disney Blog is hinting at the possibility of more heroes showing up. My guess is Spiderman, since he is in Civil War and has been making Park appearance, but who knows…
Of course the Infinity Gauntlet Challenge is also available for those who are planning to tackle both the 10K and Half Marathon!
Registration for the Super Hero Half Marathon
Registration for the event opens on April 12, 2016 at 12:00pm ET. A limited number of registrations open for Disney Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club members on April 5th at 12:00pm ET. While the Inaugural race sold out quickly; last year’s race was open for quite some time. But if you plan on running, I still encourage to register as soon as possible – just in case!
