Where did the time go?

OH MY GOD!

How is it the end of March already??? Life has really gotten away from me, and I apologize! I have a lot to share, but I’ll try to make this update as short and sweet as possible.

February Race Recap
rainy cold race
Proof that I actually take bad race pictures!

February’s race was the FroYo 5K. I’ve run this before, and it was a fun little run. This year, the weather did not cooperate and I finally ran my 1st race in the rain. I had planned for it, and had extra clothes with us, but wow. I was cold and grumpy. For once I look miserable in my race pictures. I usually look like I am having fun – not this time! On a side note, I did PR (by 30 seconds, but a PR is a PR) and even placed 9th in my age group! Lil’ WO placed 4th again…1 place out of getting an Age Group award! He also got robbed of winning the costume contest – the boy actually ran in a Chewbacca costume!

March Race Recap

March was actually 2 races… sort of. We decided to run the Kiss Me I’m Irish Challenge. On St. Patrick’s Day, we ran the Kilt Run. It was an effort to break the World Record of people running in kilts. Unfortunately, not enough people were there to break the record, but I ran my fastest race EVER. Of course, it was a 1K, which is about half a mile. Plus – free beer!

Yes… I was THAT hot!

The next day we ran the Kiss Me I’m Irish 8K.  It was a fun event, but we went from a cold and rainy February race to a hot and sweaty March race. I went out too fast and was miserable by the end. Like miserable enough to ditch my tank top and just run in my sports bra! I will say that the water stations weren’t the best, and I definitely recommend bringing your own water bottle if you decide to run it. Everything else was great. Especially free beer at 9 am!

Upcoming Races

I have been in full training mode lately. April 9th is the Redneck Run 10K.  So far it looks like I am running it on my own. I was debating on whether I should try to come up with a costume, but think I am just going to wing it. I haven’t really done much work on my run or speed because I have been focusing on something else…

In May, instead of running my typical race (Tinkerbell Half Marathon) I am competing in my 1st triathlon, the MomsTri! I finally pulled the trigger and signed up. I am nervous as hell, and so instead of focusing my training on speed or strength, all of my focus has been on mastering the swim. I am just now getting there, so it’s time to start upping my running mileage again because….

In June I am tackling a new half marathon – The Beach Babe. It’s going to be a small “race-cation” since we’ll be heading out to Long Beach, CA for it. I am thinking of adding a couple of days out there to bury my toes in the sand and recharge!

The Search is On

So now I have the challenge of finding races for the hottest time of the year in Phoenix; July, August, September, and October. I have some ideas but am still looking.  I’ll take any recommendations!
