Training Log – Week One

Week one of training is in the books.

The running portion went well. I got in all my training runs in and with good times. I am feeling pretty good about what is coming up. I am hoping that as I add on more tempo runs and intervals, I can drop my time a little more. My easy runs have been averaging about 12 1/2 minutes per mile, and my long run, which is supposed to be at race pace, was at 12 minutes 14 seconds.

Cross Training has presented an issue however. I completed 1 day of pilates. My cross training days are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This week, I was able to get Monday’s session in, but Wednesday and Friday presented more of an issue. We had a client dinner on Wednesday and on Friday I had an eye appointment. I think I need to start doing my cross training in the morning before work. I’ll try that next week. Wish me luck, because I have enough trouble dragging myself out of bed in time to get ready for work!

Next week is looking good I think.

Training Schedule
February 9 – 15 Training Schedule

Nothing too challenging. Easy runs are still 4 miles and my long run is 6. I will be trying to get myself out of bed by 4:30 to be able to get my pilates workout in, so I have no excuses to skip out on my cross training. Training for my last two races, I did no cross training at all, and I am curious to see how it affects my time.

Keep following me on Nike+ or Twitter and Facebook. I’ll continue to post my run results there as I complete them.
