My Bucket List Races

As I get into running more, and I begin to branch out from the Disney Races, I am slowly finding races that I want to run. I am beginning to compiling a list of “Bucket List” races – ones that have really caught my eye and I would love to do.

  • Big Sur Half Marathon – I found out about the Big Sur Marathon after hearing about the special “award” you can get if you run Boston and Big Sur. I was so happy to find out there is a Half Marathon option. If you have ever driven up the Pacific Coast Highway, you can understand the draw!
  • Star Wars Half Marathon – Ok, it’s a runDisney race. But it is on my bucket list.
  • Key West Half Marathon – again, being a beach bum… you should see the draw. Plus… I would get to have a nice trip to Key West
  • Kauai Half Marathon – have you noticed the theme in a lot of my Bucket List races? This race pairs the Hawaiian Islands, in particular Kauai, and 13.1 miles. Its a hilly course, but the fact it is Hawaii will help me ignore the elevation change in the middle.
  • Bay to Breakers – Yep, another beach run. But the beach isn’t the draw to this one – its the runners and the atmosphere. Much like Disney races, everything I have ever seen about Bay to Breakers is all about the fun, almost circus-like, atmosphere.
  • Nike Women’s Half Marathon – Have I mentioned I run for the bling? Well, how can I pass this one up? Crossing a red carpet finish line, complete with tuxedo clad men, to pick up the iconic blue box from Tiffany. The only issue is picking a city – this race series has races in 5 (FIVE!!!!!) Continents!
  • Zooma Napa Valley – A race through the unbelievably beautiful Napa Valley? Yes please. An after party featuring wine? YES please.
  • Walt Disneyworld Marathon – ok. I am not a marathoner. But a small bug has wiggled its way into my head that I may just tackle the huge challenge that is 26.2 miles. And the only place I can imagine making it that far is Disney World.

I am sure that as I keep looking for races outside of my runDisney zone, I will probably add to this list. Do you have races you are dying to run that I haven’t included? Let me know – they may just get a place on my “Bucket List” races!
