I have to admit that training started off rocky right off the bat. It definitely didn’t help that I was out of town for 3-4 days in both week 1 and week 2.
Week one of the training program was supposed to be:
- Tuesday – 3 miles easy (average pace of 12:10 – 12:30)
- Thursday – 3 miles easy
- Saturday – 3 miles easy
- Sunday – 5 miles Steady (average pace of 11:20 – 11:40)
Well in the middle of week one; The Diva and I took for Chicago for a dance convention. Luckily the Westin Lombard has a nice little fitness center (and a real cool fitness program I will be blogging about separately later) and I was able to get in my Thursday and Saturday runs. Since we had to check out (and I overslept after a late night) I wasn’t able to get that long run in.
Week two was supposed to look like this:
- Tuesday – 3 miles easy, then 3 sets of 20 secs/2 min intervals
- Thursday – 4 miles easy, then 4 sets of 20 secs/2 min intervals
- Saturday – 4 miles easy
- Sunday – 6 miles steady
Well, after still being beat from Chicago – I skipped Tuesday’s workout and on Thursday we packed up the kids for a last minute California trip. We packed our running gear, but never got the runs in.
Obviously, I am a little stressed being a bit behind; especially in adding the mileage to my long runs. I am slightly worried if I jump to the distance my long run calls for this weekend I may end up hurting. I guess I’ll play it by ear! But now it’s time for me to play catch up! Hopefully training will be back on schedule with no more issues!
