The Search is On

There are a so many ways to track your training and the pace of your runs. I typically use an app on my phone, but since my training for my next race is calling for more tempo runs and speed work, I am finding that the apps are not quite the right solution.

So, I am starting to look for a good runner’s watch. I have been “looking” for awhile, but it is time to get serious. I’m reading reviews and checking out the various online communities they each will connect to. I am currently looking most closely at Garmin, Soleus, and TomTom watches. I admit, for as tech savvy as I like to think I am, I am feeling a bit lost. I have to stay in a pretty tight budget and the communities that they each connect to is also something I am weighing into the choice.

I think my next step is to head to a store where I can try them all on. I am worried about the size and the way each will fit. I am concerned that the TomTom might be a little large and bulky for me. On the flip side I do worry that the Garmin will be small and hard to read on a run.

Regardless of which I pick, I will also be moving “communities” Currently I am logging my training runs through the Nike Running App, which obviously syncs to the Nike+ Community. Honestly, I really only use the community to track. I am hoping that as I find a watch and good community, I will be more active there, for support and training advice.

Do you have experience with any of these watches? I would love to hear your feedback!

I have experience looking for them, in some cases, drooling, like at the Garmin 910. However, none of them do everything that I want, so I just keep waiting for the “next big thing”.
Sorry, that wasn’t very helpful, was it?

Not exactly the *most* helpful. Plus, the 910 is out of the budget I am setting for myself. Unless you are saying I can spend more!
